The Senate Trial of Donald J. Trump: Mitch McConnell’s Circus Sideshow

Read Time:2 Minute, 1 Second

by Dr. Mark Bear

Remember when I said Mitch McConnell will do everything in his power to assist Trump during the Senate trial? Well, EIGHT amendments were ALL rejected along party lines. I predicted we would find ourselves here, and here we are.

Each of us as citizens KNOW what a real trial looks like, and this certainly does not remotely mirror one, now does it?

Question: If McConnell and the GOP are going to allow witnesses, why are they waiting to do so? Further, and more specifically, if republican senators were dealing with this trial honestly, and if they really do plan on allowing debate to continue regarding witnesses after opening statements, why is it so important to table the amendments to hear from those witnesses?

The most that the McConnell resolution provides is that should a senator wish to hear from a witness they can debate the matter on the floor. How many of those witnesses do you really think will actually testify? In other words, tomorrow’s opening statements are in all actuality the closing statements.

It is now 1:31 AM in Washington and we finally are seeing the Senate, who has sat on nearly 400 BILLS with 125 being bipartisan, working.

Republican senators had a choice before this trial began: Betray Trump or Americans. Apparently, they chose to betray us.

By the way: The amendments being proposed are the exact same ones proposed an used in the Clinton impeachment trial. So, here is my recommendation: Contact every last one of these Republicans and TELL them you are dissatisfied. Until anger comes from the public they will feel insulated and continue on protecting the impeached President.

And why did the media networks again choose to not cover this hearing yesterday? Is it due to SEC regulations? Just asking because it seems like we are living under a dictatorship.

Trump constantly complained that he was being denied due process and now that he has an opportunity to receive that process they simply want to do things their own way by not participating and shoving this all under the carpet.

Worse than the above: I have sources telling me that it is very possible that the GOP will introduce a motion to dismiss all charges tomorrow morning. Whether this happens or not, matters little because it appears the Republicans have already made up their minds.

I am not at all surprised Republicans are not doing their Constitutional duty. They haven’t cared about the Constitution in at least 50 years and they constantly prove the only thing they care about is themselves.

When this Kangaroo Court is finished it will not end this sham. Trump has made “Tricky Dick” Nixon look like a school boy. Look for more dictatorial tricks and power plays by Trump before the election.

I agree Bill. While Trump himself is too stupid to know what day it is, a few of those around him don’t share that lack of brains.
