Someone Please Tell Trump To Stop Practicing Medicine

Trump visits the CDC

by Mark Bear

During yesterday’s COVID19 press conference, Donald J. Trump was once again singing the praises of azithromycin and hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for COVID19.  He even encouraged physicians to give it to people who “do not suffer from heart problems.” Okay, let me be clear here: The man is practicing medicine without a license.

Consider the following:

Why would an antibiotic which is used for infection work on a virus which is not treatable with antibiotics? Antibiotics do not work on viruses.  But DO ALLOW me to tell you the danger of taking an antibiotic when you only have a virus: Your body builds up an immunity to antibiotics, which is precisely why Trump must stop practicing medicine. This is why you see physicians reluctant to place people on antibiotics unless the patient is experiencing an infection.

Also, as I have written previously: Hydroxychloroquine – the drug used to treat Malaria and Lupus – is not approved by the Food and Drug Administration. When Dr. Anthony Fauci was asked about the “game-changing drug” notice what happened? Trump nearly pushed him aside not allowing Dr. Fauci to answer, and instead bullied the reporter for asking such a question. This is dangerous folks. While trials are taking place, one must understand they are administering the drug on patients.

Whether the FDA “greenlighted” the drug to be “used on an individual basis” to be “determined by the physician” in each case, it still is not approved. In order to be approved, this is what must transpire: A group of people is summoned to a study. The participants in such a study must agree to a lengthy agreement waiving the researchers from any liability and the effects of the said drug are disclosed. Why? Because those participants are willing, and they also know upfront the risks associated with such a study. They are also paid for their participation.

Furthermore, when the study is conducted, one-half of the participants receive the real deal drug – hydroxychloroquine – and one-half will receive a placebo; a pill that contains sugar bringing no effect to the participant. Also, the participants are randomly assigned to one of the groups. Moreover, the researchers conducting the study must conduct the study in what we call “double-blind” fashion, meaning they do not know which pills are the real deal, and which are placebos. Additionally, in order to get meaningful findings to the scientific community, the study would include what we call a control group. That is they receive no treatment whatsoever.

This process is completed and then results are calculated for statistical significance. Should the results demonstrate other factors played a role in the treatment of the participant, they are recorded for all scientists to see. This is how science is done, folks!  And yes, it is a long process, which is precisely my point. For Trump to casually argue “what have we got to lose,” is grossly irresponsible.  I will allow the representative from the American Medical Association who appeared on CNN after the press conference to answer Trump’s question: “We can lose lives.” And this is where the rub is for me.

Because Trump occupies the highest office in the land that should in no wise exempt him from a penalty for practicing medicine without a license. The scientists have tried at every turn to dissuade Trump on this front, and have failed. In other words, Trump occupies the highest office in our land and by his mere occupation of that office he enjoys the power to order the FDA to greenlight that drug. But there are dangers as I have just pointed out. Ya know? Lives?

Still, another danger is that pharmacies will run out of the drug since the federal government is hoarding the supply. Furthermore, those of us who have compromised immune systems – will NOT be able to procure that particular drug which is quite inexpensive – meaning I will have to pay MORE than normal to procure treatment should I end up needing it. This has already occurred and all one need do to verify is contact your local pharmacy to see the lack of availability. Call your local pharmacy and ask them when they will get it in stock again. WEEKS!

These people need to understand that we are talking about human lives that have been lost; 9,600 lives lost in the past seven days. Have you heard a single conservative express sympathy or condolence for the survivors of each of these loved ones?  For a party claiming how pro-life they are, they are surely showing a different side of what they actually think or believe about life, aren’t they?  The insensitivity is overwhelming!

Conservatives seem bent on downplaying the number of deaths caused by COVID19, – in order to make Trump look good –  whether it be through memes telling us to “focus on those who recovered instead of deaths,” to the likes of Mark Levin who is actually questioning the realities of whether people “really died from COVID19.”

It is understandable that conservatives want to downplay the outcome we are witnessing because they supported Trump. His indifference, denials, allegations of this entire crisis being a “Democratic hoax,” his golfing while the first cases popped up in our nation, and continued bumbling of this crisis places the deaths of our fellow Americans squarely at his feet. And now he wants to practice medicine? I don’t think so! Especially when he told a reporter the day before yesterday that “he doesn’t want people to be on ventilators but wants to try this regimen on them first.” Again: Trump is NOT a licensed medical doctor.

As in everything else tRump, follow the money. I’ll bet it leads to that pharmaceutical company that Kushner is involved with.

It is so disappointing to have a president so gossipy and interfering in things that do not concern him and so neglectful of those things that should. He got a warning (instead of a punishment) for using his the muscle of his office to accomplish his own ends, without ever saying what those might be. Now he uses his impeachment as a mandate to do and say whatever he wants, daring America to do anything about it.

Who was the fool that mentioned this to Trump. Even though he is reckless enough to suggest something like this I feel certain that he did not come up with the idea all by himself. Trump has the brains of a gnat which could not keep an idea that big contained in his brain all at one time. So someone, maybe the the doctor that found his bone spurs, was paid enough to say that, “Well it cures Malaria so it should also cure Convid 19”, and thus Trump decides to prompt every one that has it. If one patient survives after taking the Malaria drug it will become a success, at least in his mind. That is his definition of success. I wish someone would ask him exactly how this drug works on the beer virus is killed by the Malaria drug. It must first be able to strip off the protein shell that protects the virus before the virus can be attacked.
