Trump And His Gang Of Conservatives Continue To Downplay COVID19

The other night CNN reported the administration predicted Friday night would be our highest death toll from COVID19, and then things would taper off, implying of course, that the number of reported deaths would decline from that point forward.

Forgive me for being the skeptic but the administration has a wealth of predictive models, and they chose ONE, the singular model, which provided them with this information. Never mind that the model requires social distancing through May and predicates its downward new projection of death toll on THAT specific criteria. No, they left that part out, didn’t they? Of course, any scientist, or any intelligent human being can tell you that nobody can predict with pinpoint accuracy a specific day the death toll will be the precise highest whilst predicting the other side of the curve present.

Scientists are on the alert for those making such wild prognostications and anyone making a “prediction” of such kind is absolutely insane. First, that is why it is called a “prediction,” and second, this virus has proven anything but predictable at every turn save one aspect:

Those of us who knew with utter certainty that the virus was spreading across Europe also knew with utter certainty that the United States was also going to be facing the pandemic. I say those of us who knew because one man knew and didn’t care enough to do anything about it is Donald J. Trump.

Those extreme measures have not taken place as of this writing. With mulligans provided for those wanting to attend church and with Trump leaving matters up to the states for shutting down, he also says that if he needs to implement a federal order to re-open he will do so. If anyone doubts his intentions, I would advise that person to look over the man’s response to date.

But my point in telling each of you this is as follows: The drumbeat to downplay the death toll by conservatives—as I have reported in the past— continues, with people from both sides arguing how the measures taken by the federal government is simply over-reach and is hindering our economy. My response? Tough! Look, when I hear these talking points repeated, without verification, I know the narrative is seeping down to everyday Americans who have not benefited from a scientific background. It does not make these Americans stupid but demonstrates how talking points when deployed correctly, can effectuate change in the general public.

Worse? There are those from the conservative punditry, namely Mark Levin, as reported by Media Matters researcher Jason Campbell, actually calling to question whether those “included in the death toll are actually victims of COVID19 or some other underlying condition.” Do you see what Levin and other conservatives are doing here? In an effort to protect their knight in shining armor, Donny, they are downplaying the death toll all while preparing the nation for a new narrative: That narrative in America is open for business and the faster the better.

As I pen these words, the Texas State Governor is mulling over whether to lift any stay home orders – or at least he was the last I looked – and Florida Governor and Chief Trump Butt Kisser Ron DeSantis, is wanting to open schools because “kids under 25 just don’t get the virus.” Of course, science says otherwise and this pandemic has proven DeSantis wrong. But hey, those pesky facts. And, um Science? Who needs it, right?

Which leads to my conclusion: The Washington Post is now reporting two very important stories: First, the new cases reported in China is now the highest it has been since six weeks ago. You will note that Wuhan eased restrictions allowing people to go to and fro and they are basically open for business with lighter restrictions. And then another problem:

An island in Japan is reporting its fear of a second wave. What’s that, you ask? A second wave? Yeah, remember Dr. Anthony Fauci has argued this could very well take place should our nation open up for business too soon. And there are other countries reporting the exact same issue with South Korea reporting a re-infection rate from those who had the virus only to recover earlier.

But darned those facts, eh? Because yesterday after Dr. Fauci spoke with CNN’s Jake Tapper, telling him basically that “yes more lives could have been saved had the administration, and Trump, implemented restrictions sooner. This information did not bode well with the narcissist in chief, because he has since retweeted a tweet on Twitter which advocates the firing of Dr. Anthony Fauci. Let that one sink in folks!

Be prepared to see death toll counts being kept beneath the high mark on Friday. Why? Because the administration appears to not only be controlling the narrative with the CDC, or is about to, but also they are forcing elderly people in nursing homes to simply ignore the very real fact that hydroxychloroquine tests in France are being stopped due to deadly side effects, that the FDA still has not approved the drug for COVID19, and the very real fact that there exists a Texas nursing home using the drug is not even conducting a real trial with controls and is merely conducting his own personal study as observational or read, “using elderly people as guinea pigs.”

But those pesky science facts be damned, eh? I hope Dr. Fauci has another stint set up before he receives the right foot of fellowship by Trump via Twitter. HE can be the EXPERT calling out the BS from this administration and a supposed leader.
