Trump Is Now Seeking His Son-in-Law’s Advice on COVID19

Now, if you find yourself wondering what this has to do with the price of toilet paper, you would be fair in asking. But let’s rewind the clock to yesterday, during what has been described by nearly all political analysts and pundits as yet another marathon press conference which has kept the fact-checkers busy for the past twenty-four hours.

During that press conference – or digitalized Trump rally with the assistance of the media – one would think we would find the head of FEMA – the Federal Emergency Management Agency who has been supposedly handling the ill-suited response to the global pandemic which claimed over 1000 lives two days ago, and nearly 950 lives yesterday. Let those numbers sink in – and know that I want to address this issue in another piece – but right now we need to ask: Where was the head of FEMA at yesterday’s latest s*it show put on by Trump? Do you see?

The entire response fell under the purview of Health and Human Services after of course, Mr. Trump fired the National Security Counsel representative for global pandemic issues while closing the majority of offices related to the huge task force assembled by our former President; Barack Obama, this despite pleas from several senators to keep a point person on the Council, and admonishment by Senator Murphy to not close so many offices.

According to the Administration at that time, “sacrifices needed to be made, and of course, they would keep those who knew about the pressing issues about pandemics on board.” The problem is The New York Times reports it differently. In fact, according to the writers of that piece, ‘Jared Kushner Is Going To Get Us All Killed.’

The writer of that article – Michelle Goldberg – presents some damning information that should keep each of us concerned. Of course, I refer to those who do not blindly follow Mr. Trump as supporters. Why? Because according to those people, he mirrors the commendation provided to Brown who ran the response to Hurricane Katrina whereby then-President Bush said, “you are doing a heck of a job Brownie.” Additionally, Politico reports that Kushner – the President’s son-in-law – is running the response to this pandemic.

So. let’s review Jared’s qualifications to run such a major crisis taking place in our nation:

“Kushner has succeeded at exactly three things in his life. He was born to the right parents, married well and learned how to influence his father-in-law.”

His failures thus far exceed his accomplishments too, as Goldberg outlines those from the outset: Said, Goldman:

“Most of his other endeavors — his biggest real estate deal, his foray into newspaper ownership, his attempt to broker a peace deal between the Israelis and the Palestinians — have been failures.

The New York Times reports further when Goldberg makes the following point in her piece yesterday stating:

“Kushner, Bernstein told me, “really sees himself as a disrupter.” Again and again, she said, people who’d dealt with Kushner told her that whatever he did, he “believed he could do it better than anybody else, and he had supreme confidence in his own abilities and his own judgment even when he didn’t know what he was talking about.” And believe me and others that he does when he says this. Sound familiar? It should because we are witnessing Kushner’s father-in-law, Donald J. Trump’s shooting from his hip or gut’ when he is supposed to be carrying the clarion and crystal clear message on how to get through this mess.

Case in point: While Governor Andrew Cuomo has been sounding the alarm that his State will “run out of ventilators in the next six days,” I would not provide much hope for the Governor. First, he is from a Blue State.  Second, Trump is deeply jealous of Cuomo getting higher ratings than he does. And third, Governors who do not ‘treat him as he believes they should – including Andrew Cuomo – that is, those who do not praise the supposedly ‘perfect’ response Trump has provided the nation run into constant conflict with the current President,  But when the New York Governor made his concerns clear guess what Jared had to say about it, according to The New York Times:

Goldman, according to Sherman, when New York’s Governor, Andrew Cuomo, said that the state would need 30,000 ventilators at the apex of the coronavirus outbreak, Kushner decided that Cuomo was being alarmist. Kushner reportedly said:

“I have all this data about I.C.U. capacity. I’m doing my own projections, and I’ve gotten a lot smarter about this. New York doesn’t need all the ventilators.”

Again: Does that last quote bring to your mind anyone else in the Administration?  Perhaps when Trump was asked who he relies upon for such policies he responded, “I talk things over with myself?”

This brings me full circle to the original point I made from the beginning of this article, where Kushner told the media the following:

“The notion of the federal stockpile was it’s supposed to be our stockpile. It’s not supposed to be state’s stockpiles that they then use.”

But that is precisely what the federal stockpile was supposed to be used according to the HHS website’s homepage. But not so anymore as it has now been reported that Health and Human Services has changed its statement on their site to accurately reflect Kushner’s position.  In other words, to deal with the national crisis he has wrought upon the American people, Trump has gone to Jared’s.

This is another of Trump’s stupid strategies. Keep giving the boy thing to do and maybe, just maybe, he will eventually get one right. This is like Archie Bunker and his son in law “Meathead”.

Yes he is Tim, and apparently he’s been responsible for a lot of resignations and firings so people are afraid of him, and that’s where he gets his power.
