Those readers from the faith community who persist in telling me Trump was “sent by God,” or that “he is anointed by God,” should pause. Seriously. Because if the truth be told, Trump has more in common with the Anti-Christ than he does the Christ of our scriptures. Don’t believe me?

Scripture tells us the Anti-Christ is “the lawless one.”

“And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming.” (2 Thessalonians 2:8).

Scripture tells us the Anti-Christ “will be the great boaster; boasting about ‘his greatness.'”

“Then I continued to watch because of the boastful words the horn was speaking.” (Daniel 7:8).

AND:

“And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart,” (Daniel 8:25).

Scripture tells us the Anti-Christ is the “arrogant one.”

“And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies;” (Revelation 13:5).

You will recall that Trump has used the Lord’s name in vain with impunity, right?

Scripture tells us the Anti-Christ is a “pathological liar.”

“When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” (John 8:44).

AND

“It set itself up to be as great as the commander of the army of the Lord; it took away the daily sacrifice from the Lord, and his sanctuary was thrown down. 12 Because of rebellion, the Lord’s people[a] and the daily sacrifice were given over to it. It prospered in everything it did, and the truth was thrown to the ground.” (Daniel: 11-12).

Scripture tells us the Anti-Christ is a “builder of towers.”

“Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.” (Genesis 11:4).

Please tell me you didn’t see this one coming, with his towers across the globe carrying his name, eh?

Again, I am not the one making the claim that Trump was “sent by God,” or “anointed by Him.” You however are. And the question I have for each of you is simple: What behavior does Trump engage in that reminds you of Christ?

Is it his pride he demonstrates whenever speaking? Or, is it his willingness to admit his wrongs and move on? Or, perhaps it is the “compassion” he shows children from a refugee’s family after he locks them away separating him from their family? Is that it? Or maybe it is his overwhelming sense of responsibility for the 83,000 lives lost thus far due to his inaction to the pandemic? Is that it? I mean as reported he has dedicated about three percent of his press briefings on acknowledging lives lost.

Or, is it his sense of “inclusion” as he invokes China as the blame for the virus, or blames Muslims, or Mexicans or whatever minority group he targets? Or perchance was it when he mocked the disabled reporter? Maybe THAT was your coming to Jesus moment, eh?

Oh, I know: It is his prolific record of lies told while in office. THAT MUST BE IT!

Oh, wait: I know! I honestly KNOW now. The precise moment you people who make such an utterly false claim was when Donald J. Trump told Frank Luntz, the Republican strategist, his answer to the following question: Have you ever asked God for forgiveness for ANYTHING you have ever done?

Trump’s response must have sealed the deal for you when he said, “You know, I haven’t! And I really do not see a need for me to do that with God. I really do not believe I have done anything wrong.” I guess church leaders across the globe can now tell those seeking Christ that WITHOUT repentance there actually CAN be forgiveness of sins.

THAT is why you all said you were not electing an altar boy. Got it. But get this: So did every single person not of faith get it too. And my guess is we will never see those people ever darken the doors of any faith movement because you LOWERED your moral standard in order to get YOUR political ideologically pure candidate in office. And after all: you would have rather died than vote for Hillary, isn’t that right?

And here we all are! Well played! Well played.

Go on, and show us your work. I did!

I humbly ask that you not so much embrace our faith, as much as look at the cognitive dissonance those of us in the faith struggle with. Not me. But others who hedged their bets on Trump – despite his gross immorality and unwillingness to seek forgiveness – a cornerstone in our faith – as a metric for those within the faith.

Again: While I believe certain attributes of the bible, it appears the majority, if not all, do not care. Since the evangelical voters are his largest voting bloc [should he lose their support] he loses the upcoming election. It really is that simple.

Even if you don’t believe the Bible inspired by God, you must admit there are many words of wisdom for life. THIS IS WHY I ASK YOU TO SHARE LIBERALLY! The only way it gets into news feeds is through this manner. Thanks in advance.

Trump was not sent by God. God does not need Trump to save America. He is God and he can save America all by himself. The man is so self-absorbed he cannot and does not care about America. He cares about himself and power and bragging. He should look in the mirror before he opens his mouth about anyone.

Just remember God didn’t always use use good men or women to fulfill his plans. Abraham, Samson, Peter, David, Moses, Saul, Matthew, Jacob, Naomi, Leah, Rahab, Noah….the list goes on. God can & use imperfect people all the time, drunks, womanizer etc. Just because Trump doesn’t seem like a great guy does not mean God would not use him….

Excellent article! Trump and his circle have hijacked Jesus in the name of politics and it is disgusting! One cannot claim to be. Christian without asking God for Excellent article! Trump and his circle have hijacked Jesus in the name of politics and it is disgusting! One cannot claim to be a Christian without asking God for forgiveness of sin and repenting for the same. There is but one way to the Father and that is through His Son Jesus Christ. Clearly Trump has denied having done this claiming he has nothing to seek forgive for. Even so, the Evangelical leaders around him are guilty of bending the Word of God and rewriting the Bible to fit Trump’s narrative. To claim that God put him in office. He was “the chosen one.” The influence this has on the public is irresponsible and utterly repugnant. Franklin Graham, Paula White and others in his faith circle have some serious explaining to do to the public. They owe the public an apology for their actions and support of Trump and the way in which they have exalted him. Immediately! There is but one way to the Father and that is through His Son Jesus Christ through seeking repentance and humbly asking the Lord for forgiveness and being saved. The Evangelical leaders encircled about Trump are guilty of warping the word of God and rewriting the Bible to fit Trump’s narrative. The influence this deception has had and continues to have on the public is not only dishonest and irresponsible but it is disgraceful. Franklin Graham, Paula White and others have some explaining to do to the public about salvation. Immediately! of sin and repenting for the same. Some time ago Elaine Pagels wrote The Origin of Satan and like everything in what some call “Scripture” it’s more complicated and deeper than the superficial discussions we sometimes hear. One thing she said was that you can’t dismiss prophecy as politics, but I am tempted to disagree. At this point I think Satan is politics. Trump damns all who believe in him and threatens all who do not.

I think the Devil must be a big sissy if an old woman like Oral Roberts’ wife can make him release his death grip on the good reverends throat by simply shouting “I rebuke thee!” I’m going to start using that phrase towards people that offend me from now on.

when Jesus was tempted by the devil he used scripture to rebuke him!

Interesting documentary on Amazon. It acknowledge that the devil was invented by humans as a way of convincing people that God was good. “How the Devil got his horns” I watched because I thought it was a bio of Donald Trump.

While I’m no fan of the almighty one, your point is well taken. If there was a god he sure as hell ain’t Donald Trump nor one of His minions.
