What Could Navy Seal Dogs And Colin Kaepernick Have In Common?
There’s an interesting and worth-seeing Navy Seal Museum in nearby Fort Pierce Florida, right on the Intracoastal waterway. There are some unusual submersible vehicles, historical exhibits, and the famously rescued lifeboat from the Maersk Alabama too, bullet holes and all. It’s there, of course, to be a tribute to that amazing outfit: the SEALS.
Not everything that happens there is seen favorably by those honored men however and they have disassociated themselves from that museum after a recent demonstration of a man being taken down by K-9 dogs on their premises.
Videos surfaced online of dogs attacking a man wearing a Colin Kaepernick jersey. That such an institution is yet another and disgraceful example of the political pollution we suffer daily is a small example of what people masquerading as conservatives have done to us.
The video includes the man, lying prone, being ordered to turn over. The man in the jersey replies, “Oh, man, I will stand” in an obvious allusion to the football player’s much-publicized choice not to stand for the national anthem.
Rear Admiral Collin Green, who heads the Naval Special Warfare Command said in an email to his forces:
“Each and every one of us serves to protect our fellow Americans – ALL Americans. Even the perception that our commitment to serving the men and women of this nation is applied unevenly is destructive, We will revisit our relationship with the Museum when I am convinced that they have made the necessary changes to ensure this type of behavior does not happen again.”
I’m sad to say that my area of Florida, even with its large number of retired military, swarms with the sort of people who talk about patriotism and wave flags but despise individual liberty. Perhaps some will be tempted to rethink their attitudes, but that this type of behavior will happen again seems a certainty. It’s a shame in every sense of that word.
