America: A Domestic Horror Show and Gothic Theater of the Absurd
Anyone with a tv or radio or cellphone or who reads newspapers knows that today is the anniversary of George Floyd’s death and the name George Floyd is not new to them or to a large number of people worldwide. It will be repeated all day long. Crowds will gather. The trial of the man who was found guilty of murdering him was watched by multitudes. He sits in Jail alone and he will for a long time.
The twenty-fifth day of May also marks the beginning of the US constitutional Convention of 1787. Fifty-five state delegates attended, including Virginia delegate George Washington who was elected chairman. That constitution still lives, but some might wonder whether, if it could speak, it might not be saying “I can’t breathe.” The knee of the DTP – the Donald Trump Party, formerly known as the Republicans, is on the neck of democracy and our system of free elections. How long will it be and who will be able to arrest and prosecute its murderers?
It seems more than likely that other states will begin examining ballots and machines with colored lights and microscopes to mimic some process that could only seem like valid science to a Papua, New Guinea tribesman. It will be done under the auspices of radical people with no scientific or forensic training and these States will claim without evidence that it’s all fake and that Trump shall reign again. Without the possible intervention of the armed military, perhaps he will, as of course both the legitimate President and the Pretender will claim to be Commander in Chief.
Historically such disputes do not end well or peacefully.
At the moment, a similar tragi-comedy is being acted out in Samoa, where the Prime Minister – dictator of the last two decades refuses to acknowledge the legitimacy of his duly elected successor and step down. That opera is complete with gaudy costumes: red robes and white wigs, but our Domestic horror show; our gothic theater of the absurd and implausible grinds on with the support of a large number of us in suits or American rags – face paint or barbarian horns, who for all the pretense to civilized values, make the other naked and feather-festooned tribesmen of the world seem like Madison and Jefferson and Franklin in comparison.
[…] of George Floyd’s murder and suggests another murder is happening: around the globe, democracies, including our own, can’t breathe. […]
We are, by my reckoning moving backward in time at breakneck speed to a time when they declared people as witches and warlocks just to get them out of the way. It will be a dystopia of which we can’t even imagine. Orwell tried to warn us that it was coming, but it was too far-fetched to believe. I watched as Rep Tim Scott tried to counter POTUS’ speech to Congress and shook my head in pity. The poor fool actually believed that the speech he gave had anything to do with the plans of Jess’ GOPERS. Maybe Kevin McCarthy will let him shine the shoes of the other Gopers.
Kevin McCarthy (king of the house goopers) and the rest of them are a bunch of twattwaffling pantloads that do not deserve to be anywhere near power, but here we are.
You do have a way with words!
I am an old guy who has been hanging around more days than he cares to remember, but what I don’t remember is a time like this. Maybe it’s just me. Good article.
Not just you at all. Those of us paying attention are pissed off about it all.
AYUP and no doubt will be glossed over because since his death more have died nd so on and so on. Hell, the majority of goopers actually think tRump is the president right now and the majority of them are all good with voting restrictions like Samoa. Oh and to add to the irony, goopers in many of these states put into place the very things they want to do away with as far as voting goes. If my eye rolling was power it could keep at least the northern part of Ca in electricity for a long time.
You are right in every respect including the whole eye-rolling thing which made me laugh my ass off. Thank you very much (in Elvis voice).
