Caught in the Orange Shadow: Billy’s Search for Understanding

Read Time:1 Minute, 33 Second

Billy grappled with an overwhelming sense of bewilderment, struggling to comprehend his parents’ unwavering affection for The TV Man. It was as if a thick fog of confusion had engulfed him, clouding his understanding of their love for the orange liar.

His mind was a whirlwind of questions, each more puzzling than the last. He had always seen Trump as a bad person, a subject of many people talking on TV. Yet, his parents seemed to worship the man. They worshipped him like he was Jesus.

This was puzzling, their praises for Trump sounding like some strange language that Billy could not understand. He tried to see what they saw and tried to understand it, but that was like trying to read a book on his bicycle. It was very hard to do.

As he thought about this, a troubling question began to eat at the edges of his mind, growing more insistent with each passing moment. The question was so disturbing that it made him feel like the ground beneath his feet was moving. It was a question he was afraid to ask but one that he could not ignore: Did his parents hold a deeper affection for this orange man, this TV Man, than they did for their very own dear son? For him?

This made Billy want to be out of this world. To him, Mom and Dad meant everything, but to them, it looked like the TV Man meant everything. Billy couldn’t sleep worrying about it and wondered if he shouldn’t take some of those pills his mom took when she couldn’t sleep. He went to the bathroom and opened the cabinet door. The pills were in a brown colored bottle with a red label. He didn’t understand the words, so he emptied a bunch of pills into his hand and picked up the water glass.
