Within a sparsely populated coniferous forest, night is quickly approaching. As twilight pushes on and the sun slowly disappears from the horizon, the nocturnal singers of the forest begin to awaken. Joining the choir of amphibians and other mistrals of the night a lone katydid begins to play its chirping melody.
Whales give dolphins a lift
Humpback whales migrate to Hawaiian waters each winter to nurse and mate, but they sometimes interact with other species and the accompanying video features the first recorded examples of the gregarious cetaceans lifting bottlenose dolphins out of the water with their heads in what seems a game for both animals (the first images showing this phenomenon appear 30 seconds into the production).

I took my dog to the dog park a few days ago, where he found a kindred spirit to play with. Apollo likes nothing more than to wrestle and “fight” with other dogs. Some dogs (and some owners) don’t appreciate his exuberance and strength, but when he finds a friend that does, it’s a thing of beauty. Goofy grins and exhausted dogs all around.
