Breaking News for My British Cat Loving Friends: The ‘Croydon Cat Killer’ Is No Killer at All

For three blood-soaked years, Southern England has been in search of the Croydon Cat Killer, the seemingly macabre and virtually invisible culprit behind a series of animal killings, mostly in the form of beheadings.

Now, after the deaths of some 400 cats, police say the case has been closed—and that the killer wasn’t human after all. Scotland Yard believes most of the feline victims were killed by cars and then descended on by foxes, whose scavenging left them without heads or tails.

Autopsies on six animals revealed fox DNA on all but one of them and noted the presence of puncture wounds; further, surveillance footage showed no human killer but did capture foxes carrying cats or parts of cats.

The Guardian recounts that one London woman who found a “mutilated body” of a cat in her garden reviewed security footage and saw a fox carrying a cat’s head in.

The BBC reports the cases will now be logged as “no crime.” There does, however, seem to be a cat killer on the loose in Washington state.)

I expect the cats that are allowed to terrorise the neighbourhood are first being killed by the foxes, who leave parts of the bodies scattered about. Then people come along, find it, recognize it as the cat belonging to the man up the street who allows it to free roam, and then they mail some parts to him as sort of an “I told you so.” At least there are predators out there ready to kill those free-roaming felines. Sort of balances nature, as it is a life saver for the poor birds.

Parts of cats in jiffy bags? Clever foxes.

Just how many sickos do you think there are out there who would do that?

The argument re birds is one thing but delivering pieces of cat to owners is sick in the head.

Also, many cats have been dissected. Very clever foxes!

As with all things, it’s a conspiracy. Birds are paying the foxes.

There is a cat killer out there though. Parts of cats have been posted to the owners homes. Doubt a fox could do that!
