Right now it is a seller’s market in our area for housing. I have been advised to sell off my husband’s two condos he had before we were married and soon. Don’t want to because it will put two families out of homes that have been there for a few years paying what in my mind is an extortionate amount of money but they are willing to pay it, since it is still way under the market rate where they are and the rent hasn’t been raised in 5 years or so.
You do live in a fashionable area Jess, if I am correct in my assessment of where you live. California, especially Northern California around the bay can be pricey indeed, although there are those “other” neighborhoods that aren’t so much. Me? I want to move to Oregon after watching The Bates Motel.
I’m not going to say exactly how much my own house is worth but let’s just say it is above average for the area I am in and the average here is around 4 million. We are consistently either #2 or in the top five of expensive zip codes where I am. My ‘rents got it back in the mid 70s for a good price and because of the frou frou, everyone wants to be here area, prices skyrocketed. I pay more for property taxes than some people make in a year. I have had offers on it from real estate people doing cold calls, that are way above what it is worth just because I have 1/2 an acre fully landscaped behind it. I don’t know where I would consider going because I love this home so much, even with all the sadness, I grew up here, plus it’s paid for 🙂
